Her real journey begun with this movie, as she started getting good offers from Bollywood. The actress returned to Tamil with Kandukondain Kandukondain, which starred Ajith Kumar and Mammootty in the leads, in the year 2000. But for the next 10 years, she kept herself busy in the Bollywood, as she could not even do a single movie. As she rose to fame in Hindi films, she turned choosy and she did not come across a perfect script for her return to Kollywood. Her comeback to Tamil movie was bilingual Raavanan, which starred Vikram in the lead role in Tamil version. Her re-entry movie directed by none other than Mani Ratnam bombed at the Box Office. In the same year (2010), she was seen in Rajinikanth’s science-fiction movie Endhiran – The Robot and it became a blockbuster. Now, she is reportedly making her comeback again.

Though some over-eager fans did approach him to grant permission to open fans clubs, Vijay has politely asked them not to go ahead with it. "Of course, fans approached me to open fans' clubs and they have been pressing me on a daily basis. I am not for fans' clubs and that's why I didn't encourage them. My job is only to act and as far as my reading of films is concerned, the script is the actual hero in any film. I'm keen to ensure that producers who believe in me and invest money to produce my films shouldn't suffer financial losses. "I'm ready to mend myself if critics point out any flaws and come out with honest criticism about Pannaiyaarum Padminiyum which is to release shortly," concludes Vijay.

The movie was released last Friday (November 22) with a huge hype, but it appears like the flick has not lived up to the audience expectations as people have given thumbs down to the movie in large numbers on social networking sites. Nonetheless, it has registered a good collection at the Tamil Box Office in the opening weekend. Irandam Ulagam has made a wonderful business in the first weekend at Tamil Box Office. It has raked in close to Rs 7 crores (Unconfirmed). The good pre-talk around the movie helped the Tamil flick to garner good collections. Not to forget, Arya and Anushka Shetty's fan following flocked to theatres in good numbers that made the movie to make good business. In Chennai, Irandam Ulagam collected close to Rs 2.50 crores in the first weekend. Meanwhile, the early reports say that the movie has got a warm reception at the International Box Office. On the other end, the Telugu version titled Varna has done a decent business. The Tollywood version got negative reviews and on social networking sites, it was badly blasted by the audience.
